Mostafa Abbas is a member of the Youth Committee, Policies and Cultural Development Sector at the Supreme Council of Culture since 2013. During the first meeting of the Youth Committee in March 2020, the members elected Mr. Abbas, the head of board of directors of WASLA, with the majority of votes as the Vice Coordinator of the Youth Committee for the current round 2020 – 2022. The membership decision was issued by the Egyptian Minister of Culture at the beginning of March 2020.

The Supreme Council of Culture is responsible for creating cultural national policies in Egypt and establishing the national strategy of Culture, Arts and Social Sciences. Working through its 24 committees, the Surpreme Council of Culture is the main setter of cultural policy all over Egypt. Its members are elite groups of Egyptian intellectuals and artists. One of the goals of the Supreme Council of Culture is to reach the objectives promoted by the Egypt Vision 2030.
